The Addictions Foundation of Manitoba - Services and new Challenges

Bill Smitheringale will be discussing the services that the AFM provide and the new increased demands they are facing with the Opioid problem and the legalization of marijuana.

Christmas Luncheon

This year's ASIS Christmas Luncheon will be held on Thursday, December 20th at 11:45 am at the Viscount Gort (1670 Portage Avenue). All proceeds from monies raised will be going to support Siloam Mission.

To show our support, this year we will be collecting razors, deodorant, and new or gently used hoodies. A 50/50 draw will so take place to raise fund for this great cause. If you are able to donate a prize or provide support towards the luncheon, please contact Sloane.newton@grainscanada.gc.ca or at 204-470-2359 or any member of the ASIS Chapter executive.

Executive Planning Session

Will be held November 20, 2018 -  in Winnipeg this year!
All members welcome to participate. Meeting will start at 5:00 pm sharp.  Registration is now open and required, as dinner will be provided.  Please visit the events page and sign up by Sunday November 18th at 6 pm.



Are you interested in becoming a leader for the Manitoba Chapter? 
We want to hear from you!

The AGM and Election meeting will be held November 15th at the Viscount Gort 11:45 am.

Here is your opportunity to participate as a leader and take an active role in helping set the direction for 2019 chapter activities.  By dedicating a few hours each month, you can make a contribution to the local security community.

Nominations are now open and will close just prior to the election on November 15th. 

Nominations are to be submitted to Barry Smith (barry.smith@commissionaires.mb.ca).

If you are interested in becoming a member of the executive you must be a member in good standing and remain in good standing for the length of your term.

The following will be voted on positions for the upcoming year effective January 1st, 2019:
Chapter Chair
Vice Chair

The following positions are appointed annually by the Chapter Chair - some positions are available and require volunteers to take the lead:
Program Chair
Membership Chair
Certification Chair
Scholarship Chair
Sponsorship Chair
Young Professionals Liaison
Women in Security Liaison
Member at Large

All positions on the executive are of equal importance as this is a volunteer run organization and its success is highly dependent on the level of dedication and commitment.  Consider joining and making a difference in our community.

Kevin Mantie joins us for this lunch meeting from Arnold Brothers Transport Ltd.  Kevin has held previous positions with CN Police as Commanding Officer as well as Staff Sgt at D Division.  Kevin will share with us his past experiences in these roles.

Meeting to be held October 18th at the Viscount at 11:45 am.  Payment will be accepted at the door.  Member pricing $25.  Non Member pricing $30.

News and Events

ASIS Manitoba Chapter #198 participated in the 2018 Canasa golf tournament in support of Siloam Mission.  Great day out on the course.  Look forward to future collaborations with this group of like minded individuals.  Sloane Newton, Harry Schwartz and Kim Gregorashuk (L to R)

Jacques J. Gagne CD CPP PSP BA (LSM) was recently presented with this recognition award for his tenure as Chapter Chair in 2015 & 2016.  

Current Chapter Chair, Sloane Newton met with Jacques, thanked him for his dedication to the Manitoba Chapter over the years, and wished him well in his new endeavours out East.  

It was appreciated and Jacques would like to extend thanks to the Chapter Executive and members for the acknowledgement.
