Our monthly General Meeting for February will take place at CanadInns Polo Park in Ambassador Room "I" with access off the Indoor Courtyard. A buffet style lunch will be available.
Forensic Investigation Investigations of varying size and significance are a regular occurrence within today’s organization. While every investigation should focus on determining the facts, what sets apart a forensic investigation, particularly one with a successful outcome? Conducting an effective and proper investigation is a critical component in obtaining a successful outcome, particularly in today’s ever increasing litigious environment. This session will enhance the participant’s understanding of forensic accounting and investigation and include topics such as planning an investigation, interviewing, utilizing investigative tools and potential remedies for resolution. The session will also touch on best practices and common pitfalls in conducting internal investigations.
Steve Martens, CA Steve is a Senior Manager in the Financial Advisory group of Deloitte & Touche LLP in Winnipeg, who specializes in forensic accounting, investigation and dispute consulting. Steve began his forensic investigative focus 16 years ago and has led numerous investigations in both the public and private sectors into situations involving fraud, conflict of interest, policy non-compliance, financial irregularities and disputes. Over the years he has made numerous presentations to organizations as well as provided formal training sessions on fraud detection, resolution and awareness.
