CPP Study Course Print

Dear Members and welcomed guests,

The ASIS Canadian Prairie Chapter is happy to announce the 2009 Certified Protection Professional (CPP®) Study Course for those preparing for certification.


Why do you need to be certified in security?


For years the world has recognized a need for competent professionals who can effectively manage complex security issues that threaten people and the assets of corporations, governments, and public and private institutions. As the emphasis on protecting people, property, and information increases, it has strengthened the demand for professional managers and is used more to qualfiy potential applicants for security management positions. 

Nearly 10,000 professionals have earned the designation of CPP®. This group of professionals has demonstrated its competency in the areas of security solutions and best-business practices through an intensive qualification and testing program. As a result, these men and women have been awarded the coveted designation of CPP®, and are recognized as proven leaders in their profession.


When will the course be held?


The CPP study course will be held Thursdays March 5 - May 7, 2009 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm and will prepare you to write the certification exam and above all become more educated in all the areas of security management.  Most security management positions are now requiring certification and credentials and making it a qualification in the hiring process. 


What is covered in the Certified Protection Professional (CPP®) Study Course?


The sessions will cover topics in the areas of Physical Security, Information Security, Investigations, Emergency Management and much more.  Four qualified Certified Protection Professional instructors will be teaching on the various subjects and will bring together a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom atmosphere.  Even if you are unsure about writing this year but still want to learn more about security or what it takes to study for the CPP we welcome you to the course.


There are no other courses in Manitoba that can give you this level of instruction and preparation for the CPP certification. 


Where will the course be held?


All session will be held at Manitoba Hydro - 1565 Willson Place - off Waverly - and will be a classroom setting combined with PowerPoint presentations, videos, quizzes, and prepatory exam. All students who register will be given all the PowerPoint presentations, study notes, and reference materials for each session at the end of the course. 


How much is the cost of the course?


The cost for the course will be $150 for ASIS Members - $300 for non-members.
