Our May 21st, 2009 Meeting will take place at the Royal Canadian Mint, 520 Lagimodiere Blvd., hosted by Program Chair Ken Pydee. A light lunch of soup and sandwiches, dessert and beverages will be available, following which all attendees will be given a special escorted tour of the facility. Members may bring guests.
Please park in the Visitor Parking Lot at the front of the building and enter through the Front Entrance. From there you will be directed up the escalator to the Theater on the 2nd Floor.
This special V.I.P. Tour will take you through the High Security part of the plant where host guides will explain the various processes involved in the making of Canada's coin currency. This is a rare opportunity to see "how it's made" in person.
Note: Please ensure you wear shoes with low heels and closed toes and minimize any metal on your person (jewellery, etc.) as you will need to ensure you are as metal-free as possible and definitely coin-free before entering our High Security Area, in order to comply with our safety and security policies.
Lunch will begin at 1145 hrs. - 1215 hrs. The tour is expected to take 1 to 1 1/2 hours ending at approximately 1330 hrs.
Please confirm your attendance through registration for the event no later than the end of Tuesday, May 19 as we will need to know the number of attendees for the caterer.
Cost of the Lunch & Tour is $15.00 per person payable to ASIS Prairie Chapter 198.
